[SOLVED] Lucid Lynx Sound Problem Solved in Ubuntu 10.04
I tried to play my music and suddenly sound went off. And then I tried every sort of my hardware flaw but I was unsuccessful for that to handle. Then I Tried to install the new player “VLC” but I was unsuccessful to play with it. Then I opened the Synaptic Manager and updated the list from that and then I tried to upgrade the list and pressed Apply and waited for the the update. I opened terminal and typed:
mplayer *.mp3
In the directory where my music files were situated. Then I tried to open the player but again the same problem arose. So I removed my player “Completely” not just “Remove” and then again “Install” the same package. And that seemed to work on me.
UPDATE: If you have the problem since the fresh installation, then just play a file and then it asks for “Search For Plugin”, and then just click the button and then you will get the list and then install the plugin. Make sure that you have an internet connection and the plugin by tis process must be installed one by one. If you want most of the plugins then you can reload the “Synaptic package manager”(Press Alt+F2 and then type “synaptic”) and then find for “ffmpeg” and get the necessary downloads.
If the above problem didn’t helped you try downgrading your kernel version. That’s an easy and fast solution for ubuntu problems.
